That depends a lot on the dog, the humans, and the issues we are working on. Most behavior issues will take multiple sessions. If you are not sure, you can purchase just the Breakthrough Session to start. At the end of it, if you want to get a package, we can subtract the price of the Breakthrough session from the package price.

Every situation is different, so it’s impossible to predict. I’ve yet to meet the person who has multiple hours available per day to train their dog, myself included. We want results, and a plan that doesn’t fit your life will not be effective. What I can say is that it is usually far less time than clients expect. That’s doesn’t mean it’s always easy! Behavior change can be a roller coaster, but we will work as efficiently and effectively as possible in a way that is sustainable for your situation.

You likely already have what you need: a regular flat collar and a leash. Depending on what we’re working on, I may recommend a longer leash and/or an appropriate harness that’s comfortable for your dog if you don’t already have one.

Absolutely! In fact, they can be much better for a dog who is worried about having guests in the home. Almost everything stays the same in a remote session except I’m not in your living room! There are a couple of exceptions:
1- Instead of demonstrating with your dog, I use my own pets, props, and/or video examples. Having you do the work with your dog from the beginning, while I give you precise instruction, sets you both up for success. In real life, I can’t be with you all the time, so whether remote or in-person, my job is to give you the skills and confidence to know exactly what to do and how to do it when you’re on your own.
2- For issues that can’t be replicated via videoconference (for example during walks), you can send videos from your phone for me to review. There are some advantages to video review because we can slow it down, watch it multiple times, and I can give you very specific feedback. Video is a powerful way to analyze the subtleties of your dog’s responses that might otherwise be missed.
Concerned about the tech involved? Don’t worry, I’m not a techie, so I’ll make sure it’s super easy and give you very clear, step-by-step instructions.

Given the unknowable factors in different dogs, people, and environments, it would be unethical to guarantee results. In fact, the organization I am certified with prohibits me from making guarantees for exactly that reason. However, I can commit to using a welfare-first approach that sets the foundation for success and creating a plan based on reward-based strategies that are backed by the science of animal behavior and learning.

I strive to keep an open dialogue with my clients which is why frequent check-ins are included. Feedback about how your dog is doing AND how the humans in the household are doing helps me adjust the plan appropriately. If you prefer a trainer who hands you a plan and leaves you alone, I may not be the right choice for you!

That’s okay! You can get your questions answered with a free discovery call. We’ll chat about your dog, and you can tell me your concerns and ask any questions. There’s no pressure at all. After the call, you are welcome to reach out with more questions later if you have any. If you decide it’s not right for you, no problem. Regardless, I always enjoy hearing about people’s dogs!
